The university has over 90 spaces with a variety of built-in A/V equipment. To view A/V technology that is available in spaces across campus, click on the link below.
General A/V Instructions
Most rooms will have an HDMI connection for you to plug your laptop into directly. Older systems on campus will also offer VGA with an AUX cable. Newer systems offer wireless options like Vivi, MirrorOp, Airplay and Clickshare. The technology across campus varies in connections and age, so we highly recommend testing out the system in that particular space beforehand. Since most laptops now require USB-C connections, we have secured adapters in most spaces on campus. The Library Infodesk does have adapters of all kinds for check-out if you need one.
The varying types of control panels you might encounter in a classroom or meeting space range from button to touch panels with inputs labeled:
Laptop ("Laptop 1" being VGA and "Laptop 2" being HDMI)
WePresent/AppleTV/Clickshare/Vivi
Doc Cam
DVD/VCR
Volume Knob/Buttons
Screen Up/Down Buttons
Blank Screen
The options should be straightforward but if you need further assistance or if you encounter any issues, please feel free to contact the Tech Deck at x7333.
Other Instructions:
With the constant evolution of technology, maintaining a consistent standard of wireless presentation in all of our classrooms and meeting spaces has proven to be a challenge. Some spaces are equipped with an AppleTV for AirPlay, while others feature the Barco Clickshare or WePresent (MirrorOp) hardware. We are pleased to share that recent updates to our classrooms have introduced the Vivi Wireless Presentation System, which has been well-received by users. Our aim is to gradually implement these systems as we continue to upgrade our facilities. It is important to note that all spaces offering wireless presentation options have clear instructions displayed on the screens in the room. If you require further assistance in connecting to the systems on campus, please do not hesitate to contact the Tech Deck.
We have been working hard on creating a plan for updating classrooms and AV spaces. We are aware that many of our classrooms are in dire need of technology updates. An 8-10 year cyclical update plan is in the works, but it will take some time to catch up and update the oldest of our classrooms.
With plans to begin the Mood-Bridwell renovation at the end of this school year, many instructors’ offices will be temporarily moved to the Mundy building. This semester, we will be updating the classrooms in Mundy with newer technology and larger screens. Once these rooms are completed, we will likely be focusing on classrooms in FAC, SLC and Olin.
