Additional Gradebook Options
Customize How Grade Values Are Displayed
You can customize what information gets shown on a student’s grade report. By default, the grade report will show columns such as “item weight” or “range”. If these values are not relevant to your class, you can hide them by editing your course gradebook settings.
At the top of the course page, select Grades.
Next to Grader report, open the drop-down menu then select Course Grade Settings. These settings control how grades are displayed in the course gradebook and on individual user reports.
Scroll down to the heading, User report, and any values that you wish to hide, change the setting to Hide. When you go back to the User report, these columns will be hidden.
Hide Individual Grade Items
If you want to hide only the grade, but not the activity, such as if you want to ensure that all grades are hidden while grading an assignment, you can hide the grade through the Gradebook Setup page. At the top of the course page, select Grades, then from the drop-down menu select Gradebook Setup.
Find the specific grade you wish to hide then in the action menu select Edit > Hide to hide the item. This hides the grade and feedback from students, however they would still be able to view the activity and their ungraded submission.
Hide the Entire Gradebook
If you do not want your students to be able to view the gradebook, you can hide this through your course settings.
From the main page of your course, select Settings. On the Edit course settings page, scroll down to Appearance, then change Show gradebook to students to No, the scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save changes.
Students will no longer be able to view their individual grade report, however they will still be able to view grades and feedback by going to the assignment submission page.
