"The purpose of this paper was to examine the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in relation to other business disruptions (such as other disease outbreaks, natural disasters, etc.) so that we might be better informed of the economic effects in the event of a similar catastrophe in the future. Both the pandemic itself and the responses from the world's governments have had profound effects on foreign expansion, global supply chains, trade, and FDI (Foreign Direct Investment).
Additionally, many multinational firms have used the current crisis as an opportunity to engage in positive CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives despite the short-term pressures caused by economic recession. As of the time of writing, it is unknown whether or not firms' current focus on CSR will continue after the end of the pandemic, but experts in the field of social marketing speculate that the current pandemic will change how CSR is approached in the future. This paper concludes that the coronavirus pandemic is unique in comparison to other business disruptions due to its global impact and its potential effects on the future behavior of both consumers and businesses."
