Layout
Formal layout details. For those crazy enough to care about how I organize all this stuff...
Organization
Individual artists' subpages have their works grouped by album (filed under [Miscellaneous] if unknown/inapplicable) and ordered by original track listing.
Any album is considered better than none; for instance, if a single shows up as part of a compilation album, it will likely be listed as part of that compilation album.
Note: any professional music featured as part of a video game soundtrack will usually be listed on the VGM page instead of here.
Description
Artists' descriptions are kept minimal; in general, only the following information (when known/needed) is supplied:
- Their performance name (the name they are generally known by and listed by here), both in normalized and stylistic versions
- Their real name, if an individual artist (subject to the romanization rules in the section below)
- A brief explanation of their performance name, e.g. spelling out a normally-abbreviated name in full, or giving a pronunciation guide
- Their associated genre of music
- Their country of origin, listed implicitly by nationality demonym (and country of performance if different)
- Their city and region of origin (see the subpage for detailed rules)
Romanization
Artists whose names are not based on the Latin alphabet are listed using a Latin transliteration of their names, written in traditional romanized ordering (e.g. Eastern order for most Oriental nations except Japan). Their non-Latin name is then provided, in brackets, in the language's traditional name ordering.
Song titles are listed by the following rules, according to language:
- English
- The title is given verbatim.
- Non-English language based on the Latin alphabet
- The title is given verbatim and an English translation is supplied.
- Non-English language not based on the Latin alphabet
- The title is given as a Latin transliteration, and both the original title (in its original script) and an English translation are supplied.
In the case that a song has multiple titles based on language (that do not translate identically), the English version is favored, but other versions may be listed.
