Steins;Gate

The universe has a beginning, but it has no end. —Infinite.

Stars too have a beginning, but are by their own power destroyed. —Finite.

History teaches that those who hold wisdom are often the most foolish.

Steins;Gate is the story of Rintarō Okabe, a first-year university student who calls himself "Kyōma Hōōin" and continuously puts on the air of a mad scientist, fighting against an evil, shadowy Organization. But then one day, while attending a lecture on time travel, he stumbles upon the dead body of one Kurisu Makise. Texting one of his friends about it triggers a strange leap back in time, where the lecture is canceled and Kurisu is revealed to be very much alive. Recruiting her into his lab group, Rintarō and his friends slowly develop their time travel technology, all the while being shadowed by mysterious forces...

Thoughts

The characters are pretty standard stock, but the execution is excellent and the plot is definitely an interesting backdrop for all of them - very well thought out in general. This is the kind of anime that demonstrates that execution and a little thought can easily overcome generic characters.
