Thoughts

I used to watch this way back in my Gundam Seed days, and I quite liked it then, but my anime tastes have come a long way since and I now regard this show with a vague disdain. I don't think it's especially bad or anything, but nothing about it grabs me in any way, as I see anime stereotypes galore without anything deeper.

Part of the problem might be that the canon couples are blatantly obvious from the get go. Inuyasha/Kagome is nail-bitingly obvious, as is Miroku/Sango, and any hinting as to otherwise comes off as irritating and pointless (e.g. Koga displaying his affections for Kagome, or Kikyo jealously competing with her reincarnation...weird). Not to mention that the individuals in each coupling are, as previously mentioned, cardboard cutouts - anime stereotypes to the fullest.
