The Cabin in the Woods

Let's get this party started!

In a single word: meta-horror. A bunch of college kids heading out to the titular cabin in the woods to enjoy their weekend, and shit gradually begins to go down.

Thoughts

For those of you that have seen Arby 'N the Chief, perhaps you can remember the movie scene where MC asks how his machinima was, with the response being...

Alpha: "It was...different."

Bravo: "Definitely...interesting."

Charlie: (mumbling) "That fucking sucked."

Although I wouldn't say this movie "fucking sucked", I think this is a good starting point to describe my reaction. It was pretty well-made, I'll definitely give it that - exploring and playing with many of the conventions of horror. But...well, the movie as a whole felt lackluster. I suppose the best way to put it is, it played with horror tropes, but never really created anything of its own, as if the movie existed more to make a few points rather than tell an actual story. Some may like that, but, well, unfortunately that's not my thing.
