Listed below are the feats found in Raden! After your initial character creation, your character will need to train to earn his/her other feats. Some are self-trainable *, but others may require some training with the help of an instructor **.
Training a Feat: After deciding on what feat you would like to gain, you then see how much money (for equipment and time) it will take you to gain it (an instructor may ask a task if monies are not available), and how much time.
At the end of the required training time, a character rolls an Intelligence check + Charisma modifier to see if they learned the feat.
If the Int check is passed (a roll of equal or lesser value) then the new feat is learned.
If the Int check is too high, the character needs to remediate his/her training with a +2 bonus for the next Int check. The money will need to be paid again and the time put in again.
* If a trainer is used for feats that normally don't need a trainer, a character gets +4 modifier for the check. The cost is 100gp per week he does train.
** If there is no one able to train a feat, a character can attempt to begin learning it by using half of their Intelligence + charisma modifier as a first check and then follow the steps as directed.
Examples:
Trainer Needed and Found:
Ferd the Bard wants to learn Heavy Armor Proficiency since he made an enemy of the Lord's son by single about his crooked nose. He finds a trainer since one is needed. The cost for his attempt to learn the feat is 100gp + 1 week's time. Ferd has an Intelligence of 12 and a Charisma Modifier of +3 (Ferd's Cha is 17) for a Train Check of 15 on a d20. Ferd hands Vert, his trainer 100gp, spends a week with him under a hot sun in the Midsum heat. He rolls a 9 on his d20 and learns the feat. He can now wear a breast plate under his tunic when he sings without any issues.
No trainer for a Trainer-needed feat:
Chug the Barbarian is a loner, and wants to learn Improved Grapple, but doesn't know of a trainer, so tries to train himself. He spends 200gp on this and that and people to practice with and after 2 weeks of when he thinks he has learned it, does a check (Int 10 divided by 2 + 1 Cha modifier) against 6. Chug rolls a 13.. unlucky .. and after getting bruised in a fight with a fisherman, realizes he didn't learn it right.. so goes off to spend another 200gp and 2 weeks, but will have a check of 8 (add 2 for subsequent checks) when he is ready.
