History
In the year 763, Benton Madroo led a small fleet of coastal ships to the island of Delm’re in search of a better way of life and to establish his own kingdom. They tired of the lands of the “civilized” kingdoms and wanted to separate themselves from the political turmoil that has been sweeping through Raden.
In their journey for new lands to settle, they came across this island, they have learned the name was “Delm’re,” from a local clan of barbarians, the Clan of the Puma. This clan showed the self-proclaimed, Lord Madroo a locale where it was suitable for them to settle their town, which Madroo named after himself. With many thanks and feasts, the nomadic barbarian clan sped off into the countryside in search of their next camp. Strangely enough, the Clan of the Puma was never heard from again.
With a perfect site for his town, Lord Madroo set right to work getting it established. Along with some architects, and builders of various races, they began to construct the town. Most of the buildings are made from sod and wood, but very recently, the dwarves of the community discovered a large quantity of granite northwest of the town across the Spirit River, named by the Clan of the Puma as they sent their dead floating down the river on a burning raft. With this new found rock source, the town was able to construct Lord Madroo’s tower.
After a few months and the town was constructed for the most part, clans of roaming barbarians began hassling the settlers. With Lord Madroo’s expertise in combat, he was able to defeat the small raiding bands of barbarians. However, he knew that the end of the raids was probably just a pause in the conflict. He made it law that all people of the small kingdom train in the military. When boys reach the age of 16 and girls reach the age of 18, they are required to do a duty in the militia. This has proved to be very effective, for as Lord Madroo predicted, barbarians every so often cause problems on the outskirts of town.
After several years, the small Kingdom of Madroo began to grow, and new resources were needed. A group of settlers headed east and eventually formed the small village of Sordren. A few years after that, another group broke off and settled in the hamlet of Rantor, north along the river. Both of these settlements are loyal to Madroo and follow his laws.
Very recently, Madroo came in contact with a dwarven clan, Clan Ironhammer, and after an uneasy beginning, both agreed that an economic agreement could be made and peace could exist between the two. With the dwarven iron, Madroo is able to keep up its tools for its agriculture and the military.
