I bring a sense of passion and urgency to my educational career because of the many personal stories I have about my own education and the families I have worked with over the years. I have seen how public education needs to be challenged in order for those without a voice to be involved in the process of learning. I have also experienced the challenges and joys of Charter schools through my time as a parent having a child in a small Charter school in Sausalito.
I use my parenting lens as well as my 12 year background in PK-8 education when engaging with leadership teams and decision making. In my current Assistant Principal position I lead SST teams, Special Education teams, 504 Coordination/Facilitation and know that this background would be a solid base in the opening position.
I bring a high standard of professionalism and resourcefulness for families and educators as a Nationally Board Certified Teacher and Alum of the Educational Leadership program from a Social Justice University, Mills College in Oakland,CA. I run effective teams who can implement common vision while monitoring results. I know my coaching and support of teachers translates to effective teams who communicate authentically and have collaboration with families, cross departmental collaboration with colleagues and data based discussions/decisions.
As a principal I can further my Educational Leadership as an advocate for students and families to receive the greatest education. I believe that the rhetoric behind educational speak needs to be dumped for action. I am not only a Project Based Learning Teacher but will a Leader by Action. Having firm goals and results with timelines that have been agreed upon by a staff (that has buy in). I will create a collective inquiry for my teaching team when we decide to take on an issue or strive for improvement.
