If Diane Ketelle is Quadrant woman as a superhero then I am Adaptive Woman.....
I say this knowing how much passion and time she has put into her theory knowing that time over time I'm sure she has seen the light of her superheroness with Quadrant practice of inquiry in the profession. I too have seen the adaptive nature of change work miracles. I have used many skills in this Tier that have everything to do with looking at a problem and finding a solution in regards to adaptive change.
First! My union leadership in the Campaign was a part of the philosophy that while I know how much my students needed me in the classroom as their advocate and teacher, they needed me even more to advocate for the money in a larger spectrum. I am reminded of a quote from Field Experience that Zach Roberts found, "There go the people I must follow for I must lead them."
I use this quote because I know this quote, I live this quote and breathe this quote.... o.k. not so extreme but something close to it. Adaptive leading I truly believe is a way of life. Extreme leadership with a Zen to it.
However I do want to say that managing the conflict has been a struggle for it. There are 2 sides I'm working on with conflict as a professional. The growing pains of knowing that I use "work" avoidance with colleagues and also passive aggressive behavior in difficult situations.
I feel like this program has helped me with the human resources of educational leadership but I still feel that I'm growing in truly speaking my deep truth in an intellectual "quadrant".
At times I know I am extremely opinionated in my place as a teacher and teacher leader but it comes from the value of keeping children/students at the center. As well as knowing families and that sometimes the teacher and the school is the only resource a family might have.
