I am deeply proud of my commitment to Education and specifically the leadership I have put forth. In all 3 districts I've worked for in the past 10 years I have been on Leadership Teams. At Cleveland Elem. in SFUSD I believe the most profound impact I made was bringing an Environmental platform and Social Justice mindset to the families and staff. When I first started at Cleveland Elem. , morale was low and we were in a school that was one of the lowest performing in the district. I enrolled my daughter in this school as a Kindergartner and decided to take on as much leadership as I could. Knowing that my school needed to be the best for my daughter as well as the students I taught. I brought hands on science to the school by being a Science lead which resulted in our school becoming a "Green School". I became highly involved in my union to work for teacher rights at my site and became a leader with CTA/AFT in groundbreaking work with Common Core and Prop. 30. (see attached letter of rec.)
I continued my Science passion in Leadership at my new district RUSD in Tiburon, CA. I became lead of Science Dept. and brought training of NGSS to staff as well as deeper conversations around S.T.E.A.M. and Design Thinking. (see attached Letter of Rec.)
Currently, as Assistant Principal, I am deeply proud of the work I do in Deep East Oakland around equity, social justice and collaboration. I lead 3 teams; Grade Level, Special Education Department and Physical Education. I never falter when advocating for students with Special Needs or 504s. I am proud of the increased Grade Point average of our students with special needs, the drop of referrals in the grade level team I lead, as well as the increased professionalism in the Physical Education Department that I lead as well. Furthermore, I have taken it upon myself to continue in my Professional Development by reaching out to my Mills Mentor, Diane Ketelle, to be my coach in Administration as well as participate in in Professional Development for Leadership with ACSA conferences and National Equity Project Conferences and Coaching.
