July-August, 2019 (and beyond) Avant Advance Professional Development program.
Advance is Avant Assessment's new professional development tool for learning to rate student writing according to the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines using the Avant STAMP Rubrics. The online, self-paced course itself takes about 10-15 hours. The course is the foundation of what Avant uses to train their raters for STAMP testing. Teachers who have completed this course have been able to apply what they’ve learned immediately in their classrooms by being able to properly evaluate the proficiency level of work produced by their students. (The same skills can also be applied to Speaking.)
To request an account, contact maaoki@seattleschools.org.
I have scheduled 4 Zoom Sessions that you could attend to get “launched” on the program. You can attend any or all of the sessions. I will provide an overview of the program and answer any questions you have. Your Advance license is good for one year, but if you can complete the course this summer (before August 30), I will provide a Seattle Public Schools Certificate of Completion in addition to the Avant Assessment Certificate. You can get clock hours from WAFLT upon completion of the program.
