AGENDA:
We don't know exactly how this will work since it's the first time we've tried to do a regional WL job-alike PD on the same day. However, just keep in mind the goals for the day. We don't have to do things in order.
1. Try to connect to the Zoom meeting: https://zoom.us/j/579852872 .
You can do it on a computer (with audio and microphone so you can talk, plus webcam so we can see you, hopefully) or a phone. (The picture is smaller, but it works fine.)
If you get on Zoom, I can help guide the first part of the meeting. If you can't get on Zoom, then you can call me to check in 206 234-4029, or just proceed on your own. (That is fine.)
2. Do introductions so that everyone can meet each other and think about how they might connect along their pathway.
3. Explore the theme: Thematic Unit Planning
You can do this via the Zoom meeting or via the PPT I'll post (if you can't get into Zoom). The main thing is to familiarize World Language teachers with the framework from the Keys to Planning for Learning book by Donna Clementi and Laura Terrill from ACTFL and to see where the WL Course Outcomes and Example Units developed by Seattle's WL teachers in 2010-2011 under Donna Clementi's consulting fit in.
(If it's more productive for your group of teachers to just meet and talk with each other about anything related to World Languages, that's fine.)
4. Planning for Future Job Alike Days (next one is November 15)
What do you think? Do you want to meet regionally again? Or by language?
Do you want to try Zoom again?
Does this sound good as a theme for the meeting?

5. Feedback
Take a look at the WL Needs Assessment from 2015 - Priorities to Discuss document.
If possible, have someone be the scribe and collect comments from everyone at your regional meeting about what is Needed SOON vs. what is Needed LONG-TERM. Then email me the results. Include location and names of teachers contributing. maaoki@seattleschools.org
