Boskop Dam, which is set in 3000 hectare of rolling grasslands, serves as an important recreational destination for the many communities within close proximity.
The reserve is noted for outdoor recreation - apart from angling, opportunities for camping, yachting, canoeing, birding and game viewing are also offered.

Location
Boskop Dam and Nature Reserve is located in the Mooi River valley 20 km north of the town of Potchefstroom a short distance from the R501 Carltonville road and 30km from the N14 Ventersdorp/Krugersdorp road on the Rysmierbult turnoff.
Climate
Generally mild to hot but winter nights can be extremely cold.
Angling
Boskop is probably best known as an angling water and is host to a number of fishing competitions.
Game viewing & birdwatching
Game viewing and birdwatching on the reserve are also popular attractions.
The dam and its surroundings harbour a rich bird population of over 250 recorded species, and the reserve's wildlife includes black wildebeest, springbuck, red hartebeest, zebra and blesbok.
Boskop is an ideal weekend destination for either campers or for a one day excursion into the country and a leisurely picnic beside the dam.
Accommodation
A camping site and picnic site add to the appeal of the dam - a campsite with basic amenities for campers and day visitors is provided.
There will be caravan and camping sites with electricity the near future.
