Big Princess Vlei
Bass can be caugh in the big princess vlei - but one can ask "where did you catch the bass?" There are bass at the big vlei but there aren't too many. There is a clean up (dressing the princess) going on at the big vlei, culling the carp (?) and cleaning up the pollution - only good things can come of that in terms of Bass fishing (2010).
Small Princess is connected and the Diep River supplies the water.
According to Bulpin the name comes from a Hottentot princess who was reputedly held captive in the Elephant's Eye Cave at Tokai by Portugese sailors. Her tears are said to have formed the two little lakes, "famed for the size of the carp living in their waters, and for their reflecting qualities on calm days".
