An Inkatha Freedom Party member was shot outside the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court on Monday, in full view of police and television cameras.

IFP councillor Mdu Nkosi said the fatal shots were fired while he was giving an interview after the appearance of four men in connection with the shooting of an IFP supporter a little more than a week ago at Durban's KwaMashu hostels.

Police comment could not be immediately obtained.

“I was giving an interview when the e.tv journalist warned me and then I heard two shots,” said Nkosi.

According to Nkosi, a National Freedom Party councillor in the eThekwini Municipality was then arrested and bundled into a police van.

Nkosi identified the IFP supporter who was killed as Siya Dlamini.
