Eric Arthur Blair (1903 - 1950), better known as George Orwell, was an English novelist, journalist, critic and writer. His numerous literary works were occupied with social injustice and opposition to totalitarian rule.
Some of his famous books include Burmese Days (1934), a semi-autobiographical account of his days as an imperial police in Burma, the dark and ominous 1984 (1948), the socialist-laced Road to Wigan Pier.
Orwell wrote the allegorical novel Animal Farm as a veiled critique of the 1917 Russian Revolution and the subsequent Soviet-era. The popular book was further translated and adapted into several languages, including the Chinese version below in 1949.
