Mystery of History

Tutor: Vickie Rukavina

Description: I LOVE history!!!! We will be covering from creation to the last Roman Emperor. Our journey will begin with the seven days of creation and follow the Biblical events that occurred moving forward. I will be supplementing other historical information throughout our study as well. In class we will work with maps, so they will be able to place where our event is occurring, along with a timeline that will be displayed in the classroom in order to help the students anchor where it happens in history.

In order to help the student interact with the material, I will be highlighting a hero that lived as close as I can get to what we are reading about in our assigned chapters.

With all my teaching, I teach best with pictures. So I will be presenting much for the student to look at.

Homework: Typically we will read 3 lessons each week. There will be questions to fill out with each lesson.

Assessments:

  • We will be playing review games. My goal is to include that each week.

  • I will provide study guides to the quizzes that we will have periodically. The quizzes will be about 10 questions and the 4 tests will be longer. These assessments will be very simple, with no surprises. The students typically tell me that these are their favorite parts of the year. I accommodate exceptions and adjustments. This is not my focus!!! I use it because it has proven to be a helpful tool in motivating most students to put extra effort into learning their material.

This class has two different options:

1.) 1 Weekly class (*$35/month)

2.). 1 Weekly class + 1 weekly zoom (1 hr): to conversationally review what was taught in the class, and games that will help prepare for any quizzes. (*$70/month)

*Prices may be subject to change depending on the number of students in the class.
