Additionally, each student should have a 3-ring notebook with loose-leaf paper or a spiral notebook and folder to contain handouts as well as a pen or pencil to write.

This class is for beginning writers grades 4 - 6 or struggling writers grades 7 and up. It is a full year course. (This class will move at a faster pace than the Intro to IEW class.) No new students accepted after October 11 without instructor authorization as this will require some catch up work to be done at home before joining the class. This class requires parent involvement as an editor for your student's papers. It also requires the parent to work with their student on trouble spots when the papers are returned. Students will learn and work with all six dress-ups and sentence openers from the IEW method. The instructor is an accredited instructor with the Institute for Excellence in Writing.

This class may be taken several times until students are ready for IEW-B. Materials will not be repeated more than once every three years.
