Description: This class is an introductory general biology course designed to impress upon each student the wonder of God’s creation. This class contains 16 modules that explore the scientific method, microscopy, the biological classification system, a survey of three of the five kingdoms, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular biology, Mendelian genetics, evolution, and ecology. Quizzes will be given each week to ensure preparedness for each class. Students should be actively engaged in the learning process. **The biology lab portion of this course is offered as a separate class this year in order to provide adequate time to learn hands-on lab techniques and goin-depth on specific topics. The lab should be taken simultaneously with this course.**

Prerequisite: None

Texts: Exploring Creation with Biology, 2nd Edition (can be purchased used on Amazon or we have a few that can be checked out for the year)

Homework: This class is designed for independent study and students should expect to spend 45-60 min per day outside of class time reading the textbook & working On Your Own (OYO) and study guide questions. A syllabus and schedule will be provided to help facilitate this individual work.

Supply Fee: A $15 one-time fee will be collected to cover the cost of copies, etc. A 3-ring binder and/or spiral notebook for note taking is also required. Semester payment is preferred (1st semester $140/2nd semester $175).
