Quite a bit of the QUARTS roleplaying game requires the characters to micromanage mid-game, which to some players may suck the fun out of the game. These rules are presented to ease the micromanaging and, presented alongside Simplified Weapons, completely get rid of micromanaging.
In the normal rules for supporting, the players are supposed to track how many battles they've had with fellow characters. Instead of tracking how many battles occur in the middle of a fight, the GM instead rewards "Support Points" to characters at the end of a session. These Support Points are spent on various PCs (or at the GM's discretion, NPCs who are assisting the PCs) in order to rank up Supports.
When should you award Support Points?
Support Points should be awarded at the end of a session for the player's participation just like EXP, and additional Support Points can be awarded for particularly memorable in-character moments or stellar roleplaying. Additionally, if a character has a long standing goal that involves another player character or NPC (example: Cure our Pupil Richter of a disease he contracted) they should be awarded Support Points for interacting with the other player characters in this way.
1 Support Points should be awarded, and only 1.
