Second semester really circulates around three major concepts: Public Speaking, Research Writing, and EOC Preparation. There will be around 3 speeches and 4 essays. This will include a very large research project and final book presentation.
Because of this, Term 4 will be our shortest term. I will use this time to introduce the class to my expectations for public speaking. This will lead very quickly into your first full-length speech--The Demonstration Speech. After these are completed, and during their preparation, we will begin working on our research projects, as well. This will allow sufficient time for completing this very large Term-5 assessment.

VITAL 2ND SEMESTER ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Research Project: You will be doing a research paper and presentation over a famous international person during 2nd semester. I would begin thinking about who this will be now. It might not be a bad idea to pick a non-fiction book that corresponds to this topic, as well. This paper will be fairly lengthy, and the presentation must last for approximately 10-15 minutes.
2. IRA 6: This will be a group project. The project itself is huge and will be turned into a 30 minute presentation. Choose your group and book wisely.
