1. Newly Entering Students in Elementary School
Each year, we receive many inquiries about temporary childcare for first graders in elementary school before the entrance ceremony. Regarding this issue, we have repeatedly consulted with the Childcare Department of Mishima City and confirmed that, if needed, first graders can be cared for at the afterschool program (GAKUDO) even before the ceremony. Therefore, if you need this support, please consult with the registered GAKUDO first.
In general, Mishima City Government considers children to gradually become accustomed to a GAKUDO the longer they spend there. In this sense, please feel free to take days off for your children during this period. If it is impossible, the Mishima City Government understands the situation and will accept pre-entry first-graders into the GAKUDO. If your request is rejected by the GAKUDO, please inform the NIG Gender Equality Office. We will negotiate with the City Government.
2. Regarding Holidays in Kindergarten.
We sometimes receive requests for childcare on kindergarten holidays. Although we understand the situation, kindergartens do not consider working parents and have many holidays; therefore, it is technically impossible for us to cover these holidays using our limited donation fund. Currently, we limit our temporary childcare support to the time when public childcare (HOIKUSHO) or afterschool (GAKUDO) is closed on NIG working days. We would appreciate your understanding.
3. While Waiting for Childcare Centers
The childcare situation in Mishima City is not poor, but the waiting list for childcare may expand as the school year proceeds. If you are unable to find an available childcare center (HOIKUSHO), please contact the NIG Gender Equality Office. The office has members who are familiar with local childcare, including unauthorized childcare facilities and family support systems. In general, you must bear the childcare costs; however, depending on the situation, ROIS Childcare Fee Partial Subsidy Support may be available.
