In this project four points of view are presented considering the situation where computers start teaching either themselves or us humans, and deliberating if that could grow into parenting (a much broader concept than teaching).
The small frames indicate the concept of points of view. The ones on the left refer to computers teaching/parenting themselves and the ones one the right to computers teaching/parenting us.
Computer – Computer
The frame on the left refers to whether computers could teach themselves and it shows the way we do the teaching nowadays: by repetitively projecting them with what we want them to learn.
(here a slideshow of images is projected to a small screen as can be seen in the picture, the code can be found below)
The frame on the center left is again about themselves but this time on the parenting subject. The plasticine plug implies the need for a different kind of plug that computers miss in order to be parented, one that will power up emotions.
Computer – Humans
The frame on the right indicates the way humans learn and the depth of stories (which is what we need to learn and connect concepts together) contrasts the projections cast on computers. Maybe, if computers were to do that, they could generate stories.
The frame on the center right points out to a dystopian future where the computer does universal parenting projecting horizontally (across cultures) the optimized story.
(the “computer projecting to us” is attempted with a computer – input by webcam – acting as a mirror that recognizes and replaces all faces with the same white avatar mask)
