Homework

Do Rad Safety and Fluoro Safety modules (in PEAK), send PDFs to Keith and keep for your own records.

Radiation Safety

Fluoro Safety

5 ways to reduce dose to yourself and patient

Collimate

Use pulsed fluoro

Minimize patient to II distance

Be mindful of the source of the x-rays (the patient)

(Have you ever had a dental X-ray and they put lead on the front of you? What is going on?)

If you are the second person in the room, either stand between the first operator and the patient or take advantage of the fact that exposure decreases with distance squared.

Become familiar with our fluoro time policy and the sheet we give patients with more than 30 min fluoro time.

For the interested student be able to explain why it is distance squared.

hint: what is the area of the surface of a sphere?
