Introduction
My name is Mr. Rose and I teach Geometry and Geometry Lab at Chowchilla High School.
I have very high expectations of all my students. By paying attention in class, using this website, and meeting with me for any questions, any student can get the grade they want. Geometry is a topic I love and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you.
Background
I went to college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and got a degree in Civil Engineering.
I eventually decided that I didn't want to work as an engineer, but I don't regret getting the degree one bit. It still lets me get other jobs (like this one) that I love--don't be afraid of going to college just because you're not sure what you want to study.
I began teaching by joining Peace Corps. I was a teacher in an African country named Namibia. I lived in a small village of 200 people for two years. My school had about a hundred students. I was the only math teacher for grades 5, 6, and 7.

Peace Corps was a wonderful experience and I'd recommend it to anyone who thinks they're tough enough.
If you'd like to learn more about Peace Corps, check out their website, or come ask me questions. Keep in mind, it is nearly impossible to join Peace Corps without a college degree. Having good grades helps tremendously. In my opinion, Peace Corps alone is a good enough reason to do well in high school and college.
Hobbies
Piano and guitar
I'm still learning both and having fun doing it. With YouTube and other websites, it's easy to teach yourself without paying for an expensive teacher. Buying a book of sheet music will give you enough to learn for months, if not years, depending on how big the book is.
If you are looking for a hobby to keep you happy, learning, and out of trouble, musical instruments are a great place to start. Not only that, but there is a ton of research showing that learning instruments makes you smarter! Though they can be expensive, musical instruments basically last forever, so they wind up being a cheap source of entertainment in the long run.
Reading
There's really nothing quite like reading and there never will be. There are lots of great books out there. I believe there's something for everyone, even people who think they don't like reading, you just gotta find it. Reading can be an expensive hobby if you are buying all your books new, but by using libraries and sharing with friends, you can make reading work on any budget.
Below are some of my favorite books
By the way, reading makes you smarter and do better in school, even in math.
