Welcome!

This website is about a research project regarding Japanese women's experience of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and child rearing. Comparing them to those of U.S. women, you will  deepen understanding of both countries' cultural and societal differences and commonalities. This project explores how perinatal care could be made better.

The project, Mothers' Voices Japan (mamanokoe), is based on the "Listening to MothersR" surveys by Childbirth Connection (formerly Maternity Center Association established in 1918), a non-profit organization in the U.S.

The content and results of the project are shared on this site.
