Jakub Bijak gave an impressively slides-free talk on "The Relationship Between Statistical and Agent-Based Modelling in the Social Sciences". The talk included a compressed history of the precursors to modern practices in demographic modelling, e.g., the origins of mortality tables, Bayes theorem, etc.

Also covered the idea of building a statistical emulator of an agent-based or other computational model.
