Discussion of Michael Wolfson's work on healthcare microsimulations and, particularly, some of his more recent work on agent-based 'toy' models looking at the influences of location on health (largely motivated by the theories of Ellis & Boyce (2008) on biological sensitivity to context).

This is based on presentations to, and discussions with, the CLC project related to Statistics Canada's HealthPaths microsimulation work. We were interested because he sets ABM approaches in the context of data-driven microsimulation approaches, looking at a continuum from 'toy' to 'industrial strength' models and where different models fit.
