We set up camp at the lake, spent the rest of the afternoon resting in preparation for the next day's summit climb. this hike took us the better part of a day to do.
We did take breaks to enjoy the view and to catch our breath. In addition to the views making this climb memorable, there was also a massive log crossing. It was about 500 feet across.
Day two was a short but steap hike to the top of Snowmass Mountain. It consisted of a partial snow climb, scrambling up a water fall, and basically sliding on our rears down scree. The remoteness and challenge of

this peak meant we had the summit to ourselves. The summit is small and edged with drop-offs. This in combination with the July snow rolling in, we began the grueling descent back to base camp. Well the 1/4 mile glassade did add a fun twist but it was followed by a slick and rocky scree field and a mile of wet and dense willow laden meadow.
