Adventurers: "Hart" and I
Duration and Difficulty: This hike was 2.7 miles and took about 2:15 to complete. I'd rank it as an easy-medium hike due to the fact that you are hauling luggage with you. Map My Hike Link 2 (to the yurt) Map My Hike Link (around the yurt)
Trailhead: On Colorado 17, 3.6 miles north of Cumbres Pass or 3.8 miles south of La Manga Pass, at the junction with FR 116, the Neff Mountain Road.
Notes: Hart and I celebrated our anniversary by hiking up to a yurt. We bought a cool expedition sled to haul our bags and drove the 4 hours to the trailhead not knowing just how awesome this place would be.
The hike was relativly easy and pretty sho
rt. Snow shoes were required because the trail is a snow and ice pack. We spent the weekend sledding and snow shoeing around the yurt. The one night we stayed there was the highlight because the yurt was super toasty and well equiped. We drank wine, played games, and watched the birds no the deck. Highly recommend this trip, it was the best $100 we've spent on lodging. Stories to share: Extreme sledding, 4 ft geocaching hole, michele's 2 mile sled ride.
