Lynn and I are old high school buddies. As friends from the past often do, we drifted a bit apart. No willing to stand for such a thing, she and I decided to drive the coast of our whole country. This year was our maiden voyage. We went 1174.7 miles in four days. Our drive started and ended in Houston and took us from South Padre to Galveston. Our original goal was to get all the way to Louisiana but Texas is BIG! We met a pirate, we went on a boat, Lynn found her inner bird watching skills, we ran up a large metal tower where we later realized I had left my keys so we ran up it again. We also stayed in a historic hotel a dive motel, ate fresh seafood and lunchables, drank Texas's version of PBR and martinis. It is also important to mention that we say alligators and wild pigs as well as some birds that I can't pronounce.
There was a stop at "The Big Tree", and a stop at Bernies. We saw sharks in bottles, 500 Spanish speaking high schoolers, and a lot of bridges (which got Lynn excited each time.) I suppose it is important to remember the drive through liquor store, the lassoing of a fake cow, and the complicated parking meters. I'd also like to mention the stranger whose disastrous house we slept at, the meals of nuts, power bars and coffee, the bed jumping, and the late night call to Chucky Cheese. Oh wait, one more thing. "Ahhhh, We are driving on the beach!" All and all, we tried just about anything.
