Adventurers: Hart & IDuration and Difficulty: 8.5 miles round trip. This is a great hike because it is long enough to feel like a real hike but short and level enough to be considered easy. The scenery was great too. Map My Hike LinkTrailhead:
Ptarmigan Lake Trailhead, off of Cottonwood Pass Road.
No camping at TH but tons of dispersed camping along Cottonwood Pass Road
limited parking
composting toilet.
Notes: The scenery along this hike was distinctly Colorado. There were Aspen fields, boulders, avalanche chutes, alpine lakes, and 13ers. A classic hike. Hart and I decided to go past Ptarmigan Lake and grab a 13er, Jones Mtn. It was a steep push up its face and there was no trail. However, the views were great and we were alone the whole way.
