YOU NEVER WALK ALONE!
Finally, the 27th Annual Walk-Jog-Wheel-A-Thon with the disabled, took place last Sunday on the 8th of January at Dataran Merdeka! Around 1580 participants gathered as early as 6AM to take part in the 7km run or 2km Fun Walk.
30 NGOs including PEM, and their supporters walked/jog/wheel the 2km Fun Walk with the disabled. We were joined by the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, YB Dato' Sri Nancy Shukri and YB Senator Ras Adiba Radzi.
Thank you to The Spastic Children's Association of Selangor and Federal Territory (SCAS&FT), for organising such a wonderful event!
PEM has been apart of this annual event since 2013, and we hope to gather even more supporters for the upcoming 28th Annual Charity Walk-Jog-Wheel-A-Thon happening in November 2023!

GOLDEN LIGHT AWARD WINNERS 2022!
We are pleased to announce the great news that our Malaysian nominee for the International Bureau of Epilepsy (IBE) Golden Light Awards has been chosen as one of the three winners!
Congratulations to Ms. Lee May Yoong!
The Golden Light Awards are rewarded to young people either affected by epilepsy or have made a significant positive impact on the lives of others who have the condition. The name of the award signifies someone who espouses the spirit of IBE, which is to “bring epilepsy out of the shadows and into the light".
We hope her story and the rest of the award winners’ stories will inspire others to embrace their own epilepsy journeys. All the awardees were honored during the IBE Epilepsy & Society Symposium at the 14th Asian & Oceanian Epilepsy Congress which took place on the 19th November 2022.

IBE EPILEPSY & SOCIETY SYMPOSIUM, 19 NOV 2022
International Bureau of Epilepsy (IBE) and International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) welcome you to an online one-day programme, especially for people with epilepsy and their carers as part of the 14th Asian and Oceanian Epilepsy Congress!
IBE Epilepsy & Society Symposium is happening virtually on Saturday, 19 November 2022, and PEM is sponsoring limited spots (10 - 15 attendees) for our members!
"This is a great opportunity for people with epilepsy and their care providers to take part in. The virtual event will cover matters such as the recent WHO implementation of IGAP (Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and other Neurological Disorders), Overcoming Stigma with Epilepsy, Health and Social Care Support and much more.
There are also some fun activities and sharing from people living with epilepsy and representatives from various countries in the Asian Oceanian region. Let's share and learn the endeavours and efforts of those living with epilepsy from different parts of the world..."

PURPLE DAY - WOMEN & EPILEPSY
Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. Every year, PEM celebrates Purple Day by hosting events and inviting people to wear purple in support of epilepsy. In line with the celebration of International Women's Day in the same month, we want to focus our efforts on "Women & Epilepsy."
Being a women with epilepsy is not the same as being a man with epilepsy. Issues relating to womanhood such as menstruation, contraception, fertility and pregnancy are complex enough and when you have epilepsy, there are extra considerations you need to know about.
So Join us on Sunday 27 March, via Zoom, at 2pm , where we will discuss all these things and more, with sessions in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and English. The webinar is free and open to everyone - women and men! Just register below and we will see you there!

Persatuan Epilepsi Malaysia is proud to join the epilepsy community in celebrating International Epilepsy Day 2022. This year's celebration day falls on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2022!
International Epilepsy Day is a joint initiative created by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) It is a global event celebrated annually on the second Monday of February, to promote awareness on epilepsy around the world. The day provides a platform for people with epilepsy to share their experiences and stories with a global audience.

SEIZE THE DAY - EPILEPSY AWARENESS TALK
Dr. Sherrini Ahmad and Dr. Fong Si Lei from Persatuan Epilepsi Malaysia will be guest speakers at the "Seize The Day - Epilepsy Awareness Talk" online event, organised by the Leo Club of SMK Convent Ipoh.
The talk will be happening via Zoom, on the 20 February 2022, from 2:00pm to 4:30pm (MYT). Dr Sherrini will be talking about the "Myths and Facts of Epilepsy", and Dr. Fong will be speaking on "Epilepsy and COVID-19". This Zoom session is open for all, so don't miss out!

UKM INTERNATIONAL EPILEPSY DAY 2022
International Epilepsy Day is a special event which promotes awareness of epilepsy, highlight the problems faced by people with epilepsy, their families and carers, spread courage, and celebrate positivity.
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is collaborating with PEM, Epilepsy Council of Malaysia, and ILAE Young Epilepsy Section, to celebrate this year's International Epilepsy Day, with a special online event on 8th February 2022, from 8:00am to 11:30am (MYT).
