In the Contra Costa Times, find two news stories that are "important" and two stories that are NOT important, but "interesting". Summarize each of the four news stories in a few sentences. Write the title of the article with the summary underneath. Then write why the article is either "important" or "interesting". For example:
Interesting news, NOT important
"Gaga Gets Job"
Lady Gaga was seen on St. Patrick's Day at the Sunglass Hut looking for a job. The songstress is said to be in financial need after spending an enormous amount on costumes.
This story is interesting because it talks about a famous person being broke and desperate. Sadly, I think we like to read about how people that sometimes seem to have it all don't always have perfect lives. Really, this article isn't necessary to keep me an informed citizen.
"Mattress King: I Took Care of the Jackson Family"
Following the death of Michael Jackson, the Jackson family had a lot to deal with. Neil Leeds of Leeds Mattress Stores provided mattress to the family.
I think this article is interesting and not important. I think it is interesting because I question whether their information is true. It seems ridiculous and a story just to get people to pick up the newspaper.
