B14. (THE PERSON) - THE CAREER SALESMAN

A career salesman is a man who has made up his mind.

First, a career salesman is one who has chosen salesmanship as a profession., not just another job.

Second, he has made up his mind about the company he wants to represent, as well as the quality of the products or services he has to offer.. When a man believes in his company and what he has to sell, he automatically acquires a song of sincerity in his heart which is immediately detected by the buyer.

Third, a career salesman is a man who has a clearly defined objective in life and who knows its attainment is not free. He knows that success is not an accident - that it has a price tag just the same as the clothes you wear, the car you drive or the house in which you live.

To sum up, a career salesman is not only proud of his profession and the company he represents, but has made up his mind that success is not free and has decided to pay the price. Believe me, there is nothing so powerful as a salesman who has made up his mind - and there is nothing so pitiful and weak as a man who hasn’t. Just going along hoping instead of doing - following the line of least resistance - can lead only to failure.
