The theme tonight was Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained, a phrase from Chaucer. Tom was the Chairman and Toastmaster, and it was his first time filling the dual-role. We were treated tonight to three speakers. Elaine presented a thought-provoking speech about how non-profits ought to operate more like for-profit corporations. Neptune recounted his dramatic recent experiences with job hunting. Ernie continued his theme from last meeting about his trip to Zambia, this time touching upon the Grace Academy.
Announcements:
The Area 52 Humorous Speech Contest and Table Topics Contest are on Sep 26, 2013, 7 p.m. at the Brighouse Park Pavilion, where we normally meet. If you would like to represent Leading Edge in either contest, please inform Ernie, our club president.
Dues are due! The cost is still a low $36 for six months (Oct to Mar), which is among the lowest in District 21.
The next meeting is Sep 28, 2013. Hope to see you there!
