SoS

October 17, 2010

The strength of schedule (SoS) below is used in the computations as part of my rating for a team's opponents, before the overall ratings are determined. These are the raw numbers before I include any additional adjustments for I-AA/FCS opponents and may not correspond to a given team's rating as compared to performance. I do not recalculate strength of schedule after computation of the ratings.

NOTE: For the first time this season, no teams fall outside of the 12-point scale, which results in a negative number and essentially renders a team un-ratable as an opponent. However, as explained on the weekly ratings page and here, it is still necessary for some opponents to be given the value of 1.0 so as not to disproportionately value one week's outcome. This rule allows all 120 teams to be rated regardless of the 12-point scale, but this still represents a step forward for the equitable evaluation of opponents.
