Three Separate Personages / God is a Spirit

BACKGROUND

The Apostasy brought with it much confusion as to the nature and character of Deity. The Council

of Nice (AD 325) was convened by Constantine in order to "decide'tthe true nature of God. The

creeds formulated by this, and later councils created a truly "incomprehensible" God.

The Athenasian Creed is a perfect example, it reads as folIows...

"That we worship one God, in trinity and trinity in unity. Neither confounding the persons,

nor dividing the substance. For there is one person of the Father, another of the Son, and

another of the Holy Ghost, but the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost

is all one, and glory equal, the majesty co-eternal. Such as the Father is, such is the Son,

and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father uncreate, the Son uncreate and the Holy Ghost

uncreate. The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, and the Holy Ghost

incomprehensible. The Father eternal, the Son eternal, and the Holy Ghost eternal, and yet

they are not three eternals, but one eternal. As also, there are not three uncreated, nor

incomprehensible, but one uncreated and one incomprehensible. So, likewise the Father is

Almighty, the Son is Almighty and the Holy Ghost is Almighty. And yet, they are not tlree

Almighty's, but one Almighty. So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Gho$ is

God. And yet they are not three Gods but one God. So likewise the Father is Lord, and the

Son is Lord and the Holy Ghost is Lord, and yet not three Lords but one Lord."

Many Christians are brought up with this belief in a Godhead of three in one or "trinity". As an

outgrowth of that doctrine came the doctrine of God being a "spirit".that is large enough to fill the

universe, yet small enough to fit in an individual's heart. Without a detailed discussion of this

doctrine, let it be said that it's origin is found in Greek philosophy, not Christianity. Two things are

necessary for investigators to accurately understand the Godhead:

1) That the Creed shown above is false, and that The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are 3 separate

and distinct personages.

2) That God the Father has an immortal physical body like the Son.
