Have completed another piece of art made from a birdhouse someone left at my front door. Had started another piece, but developed mental/artistic constipation and put it aside for the time being. This new piece is titled "MOTOR MOBILE BIRD HOME" and is 10" long x 9" wide and 8" high. Think it was influenced by my fascination for birds in general and all the ""snow birds" living here in Las Vegas. Funny, but these seniors here seem to migrate South to warmer climates, as winter can get rather frigid/intolerant at times. Is amazing how many campers/mobile homes are parked in the driveways around this town. They travel all year around, but basically winter is definitely the time to boot-scoot. The Garmin GPS has replaced AAA maps for getting around to discover new territories or childhood dreams of places to visit, but unfortunately their service doesn't offer the senior discounts they get from AAA. Seeing some of their metal missiles zooming down the road at 75 mph and changing lanes without signaling redefines the term, "hell on wheels". Gotta give it to them though. They are gonna get the mostest out of what time is left for new adventures. Dreamt that when I retired, I would buy a Scene-a-cruiser bus, renovate the interior and hire a retired Greyhound driver and his wife as maid/cook to constantly tour the US of A. One major rule I had was "we never get on an Interstate and simply go out and see the real America and meet real folks". Fat chance that is going to happen, but it makes for a wonderful dream when I close my eyes at night.
My mind has always had a tendency to wonder and I know, most wonder about my mind, so back to my art and my thoughts while producing it. As mentioned, birds fascinate me in many ways. When they poop, their poop turns white, my favorite color. With our white hair, can we seniors possibly blame it on a low flying avian who simply had an urge/need and un-intentionally aged us a few years. Don't know why God cursed them (birds) with having to fly thousands of miles to hook-up and propagate. For them, there aren't those ambulance chasing attorneys. Once they commit, it is for life, until death do them part. As a human I was blessed by the numerous local bars, most in walking distance from my residence, every kind of contraceptive and afforded, like at a car dealership, a test drive before I made a decision on which model, options and payment plan I wanted before I parked it in my garage. Those devilish auto salesmen call every 6 months to get you to trade in and invest in the latest model. Think they are in cahoots with the car salesmen. With normal maintenance and oil changes, one often gloats on their original choice and though there may have been a few bumps in the road, realize the smooth ride they have been fortunate to have over the years. Often people think that elders/seniors lose their lust/desire for one another and life. THAT IS NOT TRUE ! What bonds them is an intense LOVE/COMPANIONSHIP for one another. Who cares if they are driving 75 mph down the road and not signaling, they are constantly trying to get into each others hearts and live every moment possible.
We all slow down a bit, but not necessarily our minds. We can't boogie all night on a dance floor or hope for an erection that may last 4 hours. One learns, chooses, desires to enjoy the shoulder they lay on and fall asleep upon. Like the birds, the honest have made their commitment. Their poser is, how to keep going down that exciting/wonderful road with their big smiles.
Every town has one of them, an RV sales lot. It is the starting block to the final journey that most LOVERS visit before the road eventually ends. Their minds are lucid and they know their journey will eventually end, but their hopes, dreams and desires have to forge on. They invest in one of those metal missiles, buy a Garmin GPS, renew their AAA policy, with discounts, and go down the open roads at 75 mph. If you try to pass them out there, be careful, for they might switch lanes without signaling. You know they are just a couple of enthusiastic lovebirds, Flo and Joe heading South from the coming snow in Idaho.
