DESCRIPTION:
The newspaper was started by an elf, named Siminosis. He was born in one of the upper class elven families and he had been thinking of informing his friends and relatives in the town with a form of informationpaper. He had many contacts and many friends and he knew a great deal of what was happening in the city at that time and he didn't had time for visiting all his friends. The year was 6030 and he was rather old and had nothing to do, and he had a lot of money.
His father was a sailor from Namar-Tol and when Siminosis visited his relatives there he found his cousin was working with a large machine that could print big papers at a, for them, high speed. Suddenly he understood what he was going to do in the future. He bought the machine and let one of his other cousins ship it to Lethys. He installed it in his house and started testing it, but the house was to small for it so he had to buy a new one. One of his many contacts found a large house for him in the city centre, that he bought the next day. Now he only needed some scribes and journalists that could help him form the first Lethys tribune.
Again his contacts found some of the best men in Lethys and he advertised about his new idea at the wells in town, like they always do in Lethys. Many people came to his house looking for one of the new exciting jobs that he had advertised about. He did choose one of the men, but he needed more, he thought, but he started working on the first paper anyway. The first one took two orhans to form and it didn't become very good. It consisted of only one page and the first article told the lethyans about the new paper and the big printingmachine, but people bought the paper and the educated lethyans thought this was a nice new invention in the city.
Only a few days after the first printing (100 papers) one of the high officers from the navy came to Siminosis house. His son had been one of them who searched a job at his newspaper and he had been turned down, as one hundred others.
This officer threatened Siminosis, and he was not able to say no to this powerful man and he hired his son. But the father, the officer, had thought that his son, his youngest one, would become a scribe for Siminosis himself, but he became a journalist and soon he would be very famous. He name was Hind.
Siminosis was very lucky, the young boy became the best journalist and the one that kept the lethyans buying the paper. The second paper came two orhan later and it was double the size of the first one (2 pages) and they sold over 200 of this one.
Siminosis was very happy, even if he didn't get any money from it, he had to pay more than he got in, but that was no problem for him, he knew it was going to be better and he knew the lethyans would buy it when he made it bigger, better and more of them. He soon realised that if he was going to make money here he had to buy a new printingmachine and hopefully a better one. He wrote a letter for his relatives and one year later he got a letter back that said that they had a new better printingmachine in their house at Namar-Tol and if he wanted to buy it he had to go there. But before that many things have happened to the paper in Lethys. The third one came only one orhan after the first second one and now it was in a form that Siminosis wanted it. Four pages (one sheet) of 2 X 1 feet each and three big articles and a lot of small notices. The journalists had been training the two first and the lethyans could easily see the differences between the first and the third one. But it was far from good. All the articles told about things inside the town and in the third tribune, or LT as it was called by the people, they started writing about the stores in Lethys and they compared them. The people bought all threehundred papers very fast and the printingworks worked with the third one all orhan until they released the fourth. People read the paper over and over again and those not able to read could easily listen when some friend read for them and soon all lethyans knew about LT. Siminosis never dreamed about how the paper grew from nothing to be on everybody's lips in one year. The fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh paper continued in the same style and with the printingworks working all day long. The articles told about the lethyans, the festivals, the prisoners at the Plamlan island prison, the university, the mentalism school, the Uscurac orders, lovestories, fights in the street, foodpoisoning at an inn, an officers death, a moving of a store, the stores and services in town and of course stories about the stupid northerners and especially the people in Haalkitaine. There was, in each LT, three short stories about northerners and these stories were very popular among the lethyans.
The eighth edition of LT was printed with the new machine and this one did not have to work all day. They sold almost one thousand papers and this is what the average numbers should be after that (800). This is very strange because it is very easy to hear what is written in the paper in the street and everybody don't have to buy it, but it only cost 5 bronce pieces and in one orhan this is not to much, not even for the average worker and they don't buy it anyway, if they are able to read at all. They export a few papers but northerners in their own country don't want to buy them because of the stories in the last page.
