So, you'd like to know more about medieval combat? Great! Here is some info to get you started.
Currently, the Barony hosts this activity every week. This allows some workshops for fighters' needs, including armoring workshops (creating pieces of armor).
Check out the Fighter Practice page on the Barony's website for more specifics on when and where practices are held:
There are two styles of fighting you'll see at practices - heavy weapons, and rapier. The heavy "Swords" are fashioned from a rattan wood, and the rapiers' tips are protected. But fighters must still be absolutely certain to wear appropriate armor to protect them. Though they never aim to "Kill", fighters do aim to land a blow that would be killing if this were real medieval times! This fighting style is NOT a scripted reconstruction performance. It is live art, reconstructed from actual timeless techniques. But we want to be able to come back next week to play again, so fighters will always be properly protected.
In order to be authorized as a participant, combatant, or marshal in any other form of Society combat-related activity, except Youth Combat, an individual must have attained his or her fourteenth (14th) birthday. The release forms, for both adult and youth combats, are found online on this webpage: http://kingdom.meridies.org/marshal.htm
Cut and Thrust is another style of combat that is being ventured into. There are some videos at this page which you can watch to see more --
