Chivalrous behavior is very important in the SCA. It upholds the best of the times which we aim to recreate. It serves to encourage others, and uplift them. And surely, if you act with such behavior, in all things, you will find that before too long you will be rewarded as well.
Be thoughtful.
If you see someone struggling with something, offer to help them. Whether this is a door, carrying items, putting up or taking down a tent or pavilion, or something else, offer assistance where able. One good turn deserves another! It will get paid forward. In the SCA, members are like family, and they will help you out in a time of need as well.
Be gracious.

-Treat everyone in the manner you would like to be treated. http://sandradodd.com/ideas/consider3.html Also remember that some day, others you encounter may be come Kings and Queens!
- And if you find yourself in a position of power of status, do not forget to turn the service around once in a while, and do something nice for others. :) http://sandradodd.com/ideas/consider1.html
You do not have to "talk the talk!"
In the SCA, we do not talk like medieval people, so don't worry about this. However, there are certain titles that you should observe in keeping with courtesy and precedence! See Titles for more. "Thank you, your Excellency!" instead of "Thank you sir", for example. Don't worry, no one will look at you funny or point and laugh if you forget and say something like "Thank you, sir." Courtesy is still courtesy, after all. Although, that said, it's really helpful if you know who the current royalty are, so that you may show them their due courtesy properly. It is usually pretty obvious due to the shiny, pointy crowns on their heads, but even if they have them off, it's best measure to use the proper title. :) See http://kingdom.meridies.org/royalty.htm for more.
Be considerate when "politics" ensue.
It may take a while of being in the SCA before you encounter something like this, though anytime you are working with a community of people, it is bound to happen sooner or later. :) Keep in mind the feelings of others, and who knows, the face you save may even be your own. Do try not to be hurt by circumstances because we are all human and mistakes through words may happen. http://sandradodd.com/ideas/consider6.html
Maintain reasonable expectations.
Don't stress yourself out over trying to achieve goals. Just do what you do, and do it well! http://sandradodd.com/ideas/consider7.html
Be humble, and not presumptions. http://sandradodd.com/ideas/consider8.html
