In some societies in the past, it was expected that noble ladies and gentlemen knew how to dance. In fact, as our Dance Master has taught us, it was used as a measure to ensure that individuals were strong and healthy, and capable. If they could not dance, what else might they not be able to do? Today we do not have to prove ourselves in this way, but we still find this activity to be an enjoyable social activity to participate in and to relive. So we hold Dance practices one week each month where we learn the dances from history and perform them together as a group. Not only do we get to have our social fun then, but we also prepare ourselves for dancing at Balls held at the end of Events, where we will have the opportunity to dance with folks from outside our group, as well.
If you are able to view this link, you can see a recording of a dance that was done at an SCA event:

Sounds like fun! Where do I learn more?
