My Collaborative Learning Activity

This VoiceThread learning activity requires students to consider how they know what they know about the social world. This learning activity fosters my online social presence through the use of voice instructions and comments on each slide. I give clear voice instructions and text instructions on the opening slides, including ground rules. On the discussion slides, I give voice instructions as well as text instructions on the slide as to what I am looking for.

This learning activity fosters collaboration as students are required to listen to other student’s comments before making their own. As they listen to other students’ thoughts on what factors shape what we know what we know about the social world, they can consider their thoughts in comparison to their fellow students. Through this sharing of ideas, the goal is to collaboratively discover how we know what we know.

Instructions to students:

In this VoiceThread activity, you will be given instructions in the first three slides as to how to participate on the last two discussion slides, including ground rules. On the last two discussion slides, you are asked to consider how you know what you know about divorce rates and teen birth rates. You will make at least one comment, either via text, audio, or webcam video. Make sure you read or listen to other students’ comments before you make your own.
