In 2017 I was living in Eindhoven and Limburg didn't seem far. So I accepted a gig from Inview to count people on trains around Maastricht Randwyck and at the same time hand out surveys they could fill in themselves. The whole day I was in the train on the same route from starting point till the end point and that on repeat. All the fieldwork I did for Inview I did as a zzp'er (entrepreneur).
This gig did only get a repeat once when IPSOS I&O asked me to do the same in another province in The Netherlands in 2023. I immediately remembered when getting on the metro that day why I didn't do this gig often for Inview or another company, dizziness. In Noord-Brabant in 2017 I was on very small buses driven by volunteers going through village I didn't even know they existed. When there were no passengers on the bus I was fine, because I could sit and do nothing. This was sometimes the case on the small buses and not on the big ones. In the big buses I had to walk through the bus and hand out surveys to the once getting in and get the survey back from the once getting out. Oh and I also had to count how many travelers were getting on and off at each stop. After a few duties I said goodbye to this gig, dizzy from walking all day in the buses. Sometimes I had extra time to relax, because I missed the next bus I was supposed to be on and had to pick up my route further on.
At the gig on station Nijmegen Heijendaal in 2017 even the manager of Inview did a few surveys. I had a clipboard with an A4 in width with a question in each column and each line was 1 respondent. I can remember that the station was very busy during rush hour, but not what the questions were about.
