Kindness Rocks

STEP #1  YOU WILL NEED SOME ROCKS!

Flat smooth river rocks work best. I find mine along the shores of Cape Cod, however if you live in the city, check out your local craft store or garden center as they typically sell smooth river stones. The 3″ to 6″ size work best! You can also purchase stones for larger events here. Try creating your own with silicone molds and cement click here to learn how!

STEP #2 PREPARE THE ROCKS BY PAINTING THEM WITH NON-TOXIC PAINT

This will prepare the rock surface for your artwork/writing and seal the rock so your paint pens will last longer. We like the Apple Barrel Multi-Surface Paint and usually use foam brushes like these. Or purchase our all inclusive PAINT KIT for just $20…it contains all of the supplies needed-just add rocks and creativity.

STEP #3 USE PAINT PENS TO CREATE YOUR ARTWORK

They work best… and are easy to work with, and last a long time. We suggest our Branded Paint Pens however Sharpie Paint Pens, Prismacolor Premiere, and Posca are good bets as well.

BE SURE TO ADD…#THEKINDNESSROCKSPROJECT to the back of each rock you drop so others can join us and share their pictures when they find one, that way you can follow the journey of your rock…

STEP #4  FINALLY TOP COAT YOUR ART WITH A NON-TOXIC CLEAR SEALANT

This will protect the artwork from the elements and the paint from altering the environment… brush on clear sealant like the one provided in our PAINT KIT

In a hurry?  Try spraying light coats of Mod Podge outdoor spray or Krylon clear acrylic spray. This will typically dry in 10 minutes or less.
