Dana Point Harbor has a very easy launch spot from a sandy beach where there is free and pay parking. You can paddle around the scenic harbor with it's pretty cliffs and also paddle out of the harbor around Dana Point. Scroll down the page and keep reading for more information.

The easiest launch spot is from the sandy beach by Dana Cove Park at the west end of the harbor off of Dana Point Harbor Drive. You can see the launch spot for kayaks canoes, and SUPs in my map or at this map link.
The west end of Doheny Beach provides a good launch spot through surf which is usually very small and week in power. It's a shorter paddle from here around Dana Point.
When you get in the open ocean on the south side of the breakwall, the swell can get pretty powerful -- you can see why the Dana Point area used to have a great surf spot before the harbor's break wall was built.
