SELF DEFENSE

Combatives is one of the 8 content areas in the Physical Education Curriculum. In our course students will learn basic techniques and skills for self defense and safety.

In the first part of our unit you will learn basic boxing and kicking skills and execute these skills through the use of pads in the form of Boxing Fitness. You will work with a partner taking turns holding the pads and boxing or kicking the pads. In this part of class you will learn the techniques of the skills and how to workout with a partner. This will also help you build trust with your partner.

The second part of class centers around the Play It Safe Curriculum for Self Defense. The goal of this program is to increase student awareness, build self-esteem, to learn prevention, and how to defend - NOT FIGHT.

You will need to come to class daily with hand protection (rubber gloves,food servers gloves, or even an old pair of socks. We only have 20 pairs of equipment that allow 40 students to participate with the equipment. If you have your own equipment you are welcome to bring it.
